Peak Women Founder Lissa Pietrykowski Featured in Troy City Lifestyle

Peak Women founder Lissa Pietrykowski was recently featured in Troy City Lifestyle in an article highlighting the story behind Peak Women and the mission that continues to shape our women-only fitness community in Troy, Michigan.

The feature shared Lissa’s personal journey, from surviving thyroid cancer while raising three young children to creating a space where women feel safe, supported, and empowered through movement.

For us, this recognition means more than press coverage. It reflects the heart behind everything we do at Peak Women.

Building a Women-Only Space Designed for Real Life

Peak Women was never meant to be a typical gym experience. From the beginning, the goal was to create a supportive environment where women could focus on feeling better without judgment.

As shared in the article, Lissa saw how intimidating traditional gyms could feel for many women, especially those navigating anxiety, postpartum recovery, aging, injuries, or major life transitions.

That’s why Peak Women was designed differently.

Our women-only gym in Troy includes a private training space with its own entrance to help women feel more comfortable from the moment they arrive. We know that sometimes the hardest part is simply walking through the door, and we wanted to make that first step feel easier.

A Journey That Changed Everything

In the feature, Lissa opened up about her thyroid cancer diagnosis in 2012 and how movement became part of her healing process during one of the most difficult seasons of her life.

Exercise became more than physical fitness. It became a way to reconnect with herself mentally and emotionally.

That experience continues to shape how we approach personal training today. At Peak Women, we believe:

  • Mental health is health

  • Movement is medicine

  • Strength is more than muscle

Our coaching philosophy focuses on meeting women where they are, not forcing them into unrealistic expectations or “before-and-after” culture.

Fitness That Focuses on How You Feel

One of the most meaningful parts of the article was Lissa’s reminder that exercise is not just about appearance.

“Exercise is not necessarily about what you look like on the outside, but how you feel on the inside.”

That mindset is at the core of Peak Women.

We focus on helping women feel:

  • Stronger

  • More confident

  • More energized

  • Less anxious

  • More connected to themselves

Whether someone is brand new to fitness or returning after years away from exercise, our goal is to create a space where they feel supported every step of the way.

Why Community Matters at Peak Women

The article also highlighted something we hear from clients all the time: relief.

Relief from feeling judged. Relief from overwhelming gym environments. Relief from feeling like they have to do it all alone.

Our community includes women of all ages and backgrounds who support one another through every season of life. Through one-on-one and shared personal training sessions, women are able to build strength in a way that feels personal, realistic, and sustainable.

As one client shared in the feature:

“When you walk in the door, you will find instant friendship and leave feeling strength and hope at any age.”

That sense of belonging is exactly what Peak Women was built for.
